Cardoness Castle is an impressive late 15th century rectangular tower house, founded by the MacCullochs. Of five storeys and a garret, the surrounding courtyard is ruined, with the dilapidated ranges of outhouses. 7 miles west is Carsluith Castle and 8 miles south-east is MacLellan's Castle.
Cardoness Castle is located south of Gatehouse of Fleet, off the A75. 30 miles south-west of Dumfries, on the A75.
The site is owned by Historic Scotland and is open daily, April to September 9:30-5:30pm, Saturday and Sunday October to March 9:30-4:30pm.
There is a car park.
