MacLellan's
Castle is a large 16th century L-plan tower house, complete except for its roof.
On two corners of the five storey main block and the four storey wing are bartizans,
which had conical roofs. Visit pending. 8 miles north-west is Cardoness
Castle and 10 miles north-east is Threave Castle.
MacLellan's Castle is located in the centre of Kirkcudbright, off Castle Street. 30 miles south-west of Dumfries, on the A75-A711.
The site is owned by Historic Scotland and is open daily, April to September 9:30-6.30pm.
