Lanercost Priors TowerLanercost Priors Tower is a four storey medieval stone fortified tower, with an adjoining two storey range to the west. Extensively remodelled in the 16th century by the Dacres, when a large fireplace was built on the first floor of the west range (now known as Dacre Hall) and new windows inserted in the tower. In the outer courtyard is Lanercost Vicarage Tower and a mile south is Naworth Castle.

Lanercost Priors Tower is part of the Augustinian priory remains, 2 miles north-east of Brampton. 13 miles north-east of Carlisle on the A689-A69.


The site is owned by English Heritage and is open daily, April to September 10:00-5:00pm. Thursday to Monday, October 10:00-4:00pm, Saturday and Sunday November to March 10:00-4:00pm. There is a car park.
