Rushbury Castle is a large oval medieval earthwork motte, possibly founded by a Norman named Odo. The low flat-top motte is encased by a wide ditch, with a counterscarp bank and fragments of a bank and ditch to the east, possibly indicates the position of a bailey. Standing on a slope, the motte ditch is most evident on the north and west but the rest of the ditch has been filled in. 3 miles south-west is Middlehope Castle and 5 miles south-east is Holdgate Castle.
Rushbury Castle is located in the village centre, off Rushbury Road. 15 miles south of Shrewsbury on the A49-B4371.
