Middlehope Castle
SO 498-886 Shropshire England

Middlehope Castle Middlehope Castle is a small earthwork motte and bailey fortress, badly mutilated by a sunken lane. Sited upon a small ridge, on one side of the lane are the remains of a very small low motte and ditch, with the once circular bailey rampart and ditch on the other side. The earthworks have been reduced and spread by ploughing but its incomplete construction indicates that the castle was never completed. 3 miles north-east is Rushbury Castle and 5 miles south-east is Broncroft Castle.
