Dodleston Castle is a Norman earthwork motte and bailey fortress, founded by Osberne fitz Tezzon. The base of the flat-topped motte is encased by a ditch with a counterscarp bank, while a bank and a wide wet ditch gives defence to the large square bailey. The dense cover of trees, make the site best viewed in winter. 2 miles south-east is Pulford Castle and 4 miles north-east is Chester Castle.
Dodleston
Castle is located in the village centre, off Church Croft. 4 miles south-west
of Chester, on the A483.
