Totnes
Castle is an impressive stone motte and bailey fortress, with a fine 13th century
shell keep on top of the steep motte. The inner bailey retains part of its curtain
wall and wet ditch. Visit pending. 3 miles north-east is Berry
Pomeroy Castle and 11 miles south-east is Dartmouth
Castle.
Totnes Castle is located in the town centre, off Castle Street. 22 miles east of Plymouth, on the A38-A385.
The site is owned by English Heritage and is open daily, July and August 10:00-6:00pm, April to June and September 10:00-5:00pm, October 10:00-4:00pm, Saturday and Sunday November to March 10:00-4:00pm.
There is a car park nearby.
