Commendator's House

Commendator's HouseCommendator's House is a ruined 16th century stone two storey fortified house, which was provided with shot-holes and a north wing. Built above the chapter house, it absorbed the north end of the former dormitory of Dryburgh Abbey and was entered by a fore-stair, on the east side. Nearby is Dryburgh Abbey Gatehouse and 10 miles south is Barnhills Tower.

Commendator's House is located in Dryburgh Abbey, off the B6356. 12 miles west of Kelso, on the A669-B6404.

The site is owned by Historic Scotland and is open daily, April to September 9:30-6:30pm, October to March 9:30-4:30pm.
