Glamis Castle

Glamis CastleGlamis Castle was originally a royal hunting lodge, with a stone 14th century three storey keep. In the 16th century, it was altered to make a five storey L-plan tower house, which was then absorbed, in the construction of a 17th century baronial mansion. Visit pending. 13 miles east is Guthrie Castle.

Glamis Castle is located north of the Glamis, off the A928. 12 miles north of Dundee, on the A90-A928.

The site is the family home of The Earl of Strathmore and is open daily, April to October 10:30-5:30pm. All visits are by a 60 minute guided tour.

There is a car park.
