Hope Motte is a small early Norman earthwork motte, which stands on a natural spur. Overlooking the north bank of Peakshole Water, the position of the bailey has been lost and river erosion has truncated the mound. To the north and west of the now crescent shaped motte, are the remains of a shallow wide ditch. 2 miles west is Peveril Castle and 4 miles east is Camp Green.
