Camp Green is a very large but much mutilated Norman earth and timber ringwork fortress. Excavations in 1976-77 failed to produce any conclusive dating evidence, apart from a 13th century pottery sherd. Obliterated by buildings and other developments to the south, the remaining high ramparts of the castle are now semi-circular in shape. 4 miles west is Hope Motte and 6 miles west is Peveril Castle.
