There is a large earthwork platform to the west of Langton but its date and function are unknown. Standing against the slope of Clombe Beck, the large irregular-shaped, near-level platform is encased by a deep ditch-like feature. The remains could represented some form of extension to the present village of Langton, possibly a garth. There was a castle recorded at Langton in the medieval period and these may be its remains. Sadly the site has been eroded by hollow ways and tracks so that its plan and form are unclear. Nearby is a low flat-topped earthwork and 4 miles north is Malton Castle.
This earthwork is located west of Langton, off Cordike Lane. 17 miles north-east of York, on the A64.
The site is visible from the road.
Car parking is by the side of the road.
