Lochside
Castle is a large low earthwork motte but the position of the bailey has been
lost. It once stood on the banks of a loch, which has also disappeared. Half a
mile north-east is Lincluden Castle and 2 miles
south-east is Dumfries Castle.
Lochside Castle is located north of Dumfries town centre, off Lochside Road. 1 mile north of Dumfries on the A780-A76.
The site is freely accessible in daylight hours. Car parking is by the side of the road.
