Isle
Tower is a small 17th century three storey stone tower house, with a centrally
projecting stair-wing. Once standing on an island, the unvaulted basement
walls have double splayed gunloops. 3 miles south is Caerlaverock
Castle and 4 miles north-west is Dumfries
Castle.
Isle Tower is located north of Bankend, on the west bank of Lochar Water. 6 miles south-east of Dumfries on the B725-Bankend Road.
The site is visible from the road and the church. Car parking is by the side of the road.
