Castle was originally a 13th century stone tower house, founded by the Frasers.
In the early 17th century, Alexander Burnett of Leys absorbed the tower house,
in the construction of a courtyard castle. 7 miles south-west
is Fetteresso Castle and 11 miles north-west
is Drum Castle.
