Castle FraserCastle Fraser was originally a 15th century stone rectangular tower house, founded by Thomas Fraser. Between 1575 and 1635, Michael and then Andrew Fraser founded the castle, when incorporating the four storey tower, in the construction of an elaborate and imposing Z-plan tower house. Known as Muchall-in-Mar until 1695, the main block is of five storey, with two 17th century, two storey projecting ranges, forming a courtyard. Visit pending. 16 miles west is Craigievar Castle.

Castle Fraser is located 3 miles south of Kenmay, off the A944. 15 miles west of Aberdeen, on the A944-local roads.

The site is owned by The National Trust for Scotland and has holiday accommodation. The castle is open daily, July and August 11:00-5:00pm, Tuesday to Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Friday and Monday at bank holidays, Good Friday to June and September 12:00-5:00pm.

There is a car park.
