Ardvreck
Castle was originally a 15th century stone rectangular three storey keep and courtyard
fortress, founded by Angus Mor III. In the 16th century, Donald Ban IX integrating
the keep in the construction of L-plan tower house. The main block was of three
or four storeys, with a vaulted basement pierced by gunloops and the round stair
tower, is corbelled out to support a square two storey caphouse. Visit pending. Picture © Andy Knight
