Underbank
Bastle is a series of 17th century stone two storey defensible farmhouses,
which have been extended and substantially altered. Within the strong walls, farmers
and reivers found security for their livestock on the ground floor and for their
family above. A mile south is Randalholme Tower.
Underbank Bastle is located north of Alston, off the A686. 22 miles north-east of Penrith, on the A686.
The site is visible from the road.
Car parking is by the side of the road.
