Battle of Wakefield 1460

An iron railing enclosure marks the spot, where the Duke of York fell in battle, on the 30th of December 1460. This monument erected in 1897, replaces one demolished in the Civil War. Across the road in Wakefield Green, are remains of medieval 'ridge and furrow', this small portion of the battlefield is all that remains undeveloped.
