Castleton Town Defences
SK 151-829

By the main car park, is the north-west corner of a late 12th century defensive eathwork bank and ditch, founded by King Henry II. Linear earthworks also survive at the south-east corner of this sub-rectangular circuit, which once enclosed the small grid-plan town.
