Brompton Castle
SE 945-822 Yorkshire England

Brompton Castle Brompton Castle is a Norman earthwork motte and bailey fortress, founded by Eustace fitz John. Standing on a small hillock, the castle has been destroyed by the building of a stone, defensible manor complex. The large oval platform, supports the grassy mounds of masonry foundations but the layout is obscured by the encroachment of houses. 3 north-east is Ayton Castle and 5 miles west is Wilton Castle.
