Benefield Castle Benefield Castle a 13th century stone ringwork fortress, which replaced a fortified Norman manor house. Sadly the castle, was abandoned by the early 14th century and the large rectangular platform, encased by a wide ditch, with a counterscarp bank, are the only remains. 5 miles south-east is Barnwell Castle and 6 miles north-east is Fotheringhay Castle.
