Old Hall was a 13th century defensible stone quadrangular manor house, founded by the Ferrers family. In the southern bailey of Castle Hill, are foundations and fragments of high walls and more stonework may have been absorbed in the construction of the brick house. Founded by Thomas Gray, in the late 15th century, it was never finished and the front of the buildings are now one continuous facade. On the angle is a narrow three storey tower, then the remains of a turret and last the gateway, which has been absorbed in the late 16th century house. To the rear, which is partly of stone and ruined former internal Tudor brick walls, are various windows and blocked doorways. 5 miles south-east is Magazine Gateway and 9 miles north-east is Mountsorrel Castle.
