Groby Old Hall
SK 524-076 Leicestershire England

Groby Old HallGroby Old Hall was originally a 13th century fortified stone manor house, founded by the Ferrers family. There is a fragment of one wall, close to motte of Groby Castle, while other stonework was absorbed in the construction of a fortified brick house, which stands in the bailey. The house was founded by Thomas Gray, in the 15th century but the fortifications were never finished and the buildings are now one continuous facade. At the corner is a narrow three storey tower, then the remains of a turret and last the gate, which has been absorbed into a late 16th century house. 5 miles south-east is Magazine Gateway and 9 miles north-east is Mountsorrel Castle.
