The Mound Morley Moor
SK 392-409 Derbyshire England

The Mound Morley MoorThe Mound is a medieval earthwork motte, possibly founded by the de Ferrers family. The conical flat-topped motte is encased by a wide wet ditch and to the south-east is a causeway that crosses the ditch. The motte has a dense cover of trees, so its best view is in winter and the position of the bailey has been lost. 3 miles north-west is Horston Castle and 6 miles south-west is Mackworth Castle.
