Castle Hill Withern
TF 427-821 Lincolnshire England

Castle Hill WithernCastle Hill was originally a medieval manorial complex, possibly founded by the Fitzwilliam family. The large square platform is encased by a strong rampart, with a wide steep sided ditch but there are no internal features visible. Each angle of the rampart are spread outwards, making possible platforms for gun emplacements, this could suggest later Civil War alterations. A mile south-west at Tothill is Toot Hill and 14 miles south-west is Bolingbroke Castle.
