Hayton Castle
SK 739-867 Nottinghamshire England

Hayton CastleHayton Castle is a medieval fortified manor house, founded by the de Hayton family. The rectangular platform, encased by shallow moat, shows evidence of disturbance but there is no trace of any stone buildings. In the 19th century, part of the moat was converted into a fish pond and the road to Hayton Castle House, now cuts through the site. 8 miles north-east is Gainsborough Castle.
