Hayton Castle is possibly a medieval fortified manor house, founded by the de Hayton family. The rectangular platform encased by shallow moat, shows evidence of disturbance but this site could just be a simple homestead moat. In the 19th century, part of the moat was converted into a fish pond and the road to Hayton Castle House, now cuts through the site. 8 miles north-east is Castle Hills Thonock.
