Castle Hill
SK 565-714 Nottinghamshire England

Castle HillCastle Hill is a mid 12th century earthwork motte and bailey fortress, founded by Thomas de Cuckney. It is thought that the castle was never completed or slighted after the civil war, in the reign of King Stephen. The low motte, is partly enclosed by a wide ditch and the bailey now supports the churchyard of St Mary's, which has destroyed any internal features. 5 miles south-east is King John's Palace and 6 miles west is Bolsover Castle.
