Castle Hill is a dominating earthwork motte, founded by Robert de Malopassu. The large
11th century flat-topped motte is situated in strategic position on a spur of the Broxton Hills. The position of the bailey has been
lost but it was probably originally attached to the south side of mound. 5 miles north-west is Shocklach Castle
and 9 miles north-east is Beeston Castle.
Castle Hill is located in Malpas, off Church Street. 15 miles south of
Chester, on the A41-B5069.
The
site is visible from the church.
Car
parking is by the church.
