Castle Hill Malpas
SJ 486-472 Cheshire England

Castle HillCastle Hill is probably an 11th century earthwork motte and bailey fortress, founded by the Barons of Malpas. Standing at a strategic position on a spur of the Broxton Hills, the large flat-topped motte is encased by a ditch. St Oswald's Church is probably situated on the site of the bailey and its graveyard extends the south and west sides of the motte. 5 miles north-west is Shocklach Castle and 9 miles north-east is Beeston Castle.
