Brent Pelham Cole Green
TL 426-312 Hertfordshire England
Brent Pelham is possibly a flat-topped Norman earthwork motte, encased by a now dry ditch. Standing exposed on a ridge top, the irregular mound is disturbed with a depressed centre, to the south is a counterscarp bank and part of the ditch is infilled. The position of any bailey has been lost but the site is also an alleged Tumulus, Roman barrow or windmill mound and the dense cover of trees, makes it best viewed in winter. 2 miles north-east is Anstey Castle.
