Bury St Edmunds Abbey Great Gate
TL 856-642 Suffolk England

Bury St Edmunds Great Gate Bury St Edmunds Abbey Great Gate is an impressive 14th century stone gatehouse of the Benedictine abbey and was designed to be the gateway for the Great Courtyard. One of the best surviving examples of its type, this two storey gate-hall is entered through a single archway which retains its portcullis. Just to the south is St James Tower.
